Lukashenko hails Belarusian People’s Congress results as new page in chronicle of state construction
A new page has been added to the chronicle of state construction. Belarus President, Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he summed up results of the first session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on 25 April, BelTA has learned.
The head of state remarked that all the items on the agenda had been considered.
“Let’s assume that we have yet to reach the peak of our work. I promise we will reach it. The work of the first session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress that has been formed with a new constitutional status is over. A new page has been inscribed into the chronicle of state construction,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
The president stressed that great things look better from afar. The Belarusian People’s Congress is only at the beginning of its long road.
“We, the people of Belarus, bearing in mind the responsibility for the present and the future of the country, out of the desire to ensure peace and accord, wellbeing of our citizens, the inviolability of people’s power, independence, and prosperity of our Belarus, have passed strategic planning documents: the National Security Concept and the Military Doctrine of our state. These documents contain our aspirations and hopes,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
The legal foundation of Belarus’ national security has been laid at the session. “It is a guarantee that desires of millions of Belarusians will come true. I am convinced that the decisions we’ve made will serve as a solid foundation for preserving the Belarusian nation as a unique historical community and for augmenting the national legacy that has been created by entire generations,” the head of state said.
But the decisions per se are not sufficient, he remarked. “Painstaking work is ahead of us. I want to safeguard you against indifference and apathy. To be a delegate of the Belarusian People’s Congress is primarily to bear responsibility for the fate of the country. To maintain principles in the course of protecting national interests. All of us will have to present reports on our work. To inform those, who delegated you, about all the matters under consideration. To inform everyone how important it is today to be strong and united in the course of defending interests of the native country. You have been delegated. It means you are trusted. It means people listen to you. Use this trust for the sake of prosperity of our native land. Enhance your authority with deeds. Support initiatives of people. Help them unite for the sake of it,” the Belarusian leader encouraged the delegates.
