Khrenin: Our neighbors conduct military training of criminals who fled from Belarus

Belarus' neighbors are training armed militants from among the criminals who fled from Belarus, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said at the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security on 15 August, BelTA has learned.

“Countries neighboring the Republic of Belarus are training on their territory armed militants from among the criminals who fled from Belarus. They openly say that they will use them for military attacks on the Belarusian state,” Viktor Khrenin said.

Of course, such nationalist quasi-military formations do not pose a significant military threat, the minister noted. “Yet, military units of Western countries can be deployed under their banners,” he noted. “At the same time, from the point of view of international law, it will be very difficult to prove their participation in an aggression. They will say that Belarusians are fighting against Belarusians, Russians are fighting against Russians and so on,” the minister said.

“It is really discouraging to see the reluctance of international organizations to comment on such actions and their decision to turn a blind eye to the sponsoring of terrorists by Western states. The reason for this is clear: these international institutions have been hijacked by Western countries to serve their interests. Most of the functionaries of these international organizations are controlled by Western governments. They help them to further their own policy, which helps create conditions for the use of military force against countries striving for a more fair world order,” Viktor Khrenin stated.
