Belarusian Natural Resources Ministry discusses cooperation with Russian colleagues amid sanctions

A delegation of the Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry discussed prospects of cooperation amid sanctions with Russian colleagues in Moscow, the ministry's press service told BelTA.

Representatives of the Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry took part in an expanded-participation session of the board of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of Russia (Rosgidromet).

The Belarusian delegation met with Director of the International Cooperation and Climate Changes Department of the Russian Natural Resources and Ecology Ministry Ivan Kushch. Preparations for the 9th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which is due to take place in Grodno in June 2022, were discussed. Prospects of cooperation of the Belarusian weather service and the Russian one amid Western sanctions were discussed.

Rosgidromet's performance in 2021 was reviewed during the session. A broad range of matters concerning Rosgidromet's cooperation with the national weather services of the CIS states and future prospects were discussed. A draft concept of the Union State program on hydrometeorological security in conditions of the volatile and changing climate in 2023-2027 was discussed with representatives of Rosgidromet and Rosgidromet's subordinate organization – the R&D enterprise Typhoon.
