Belarus government granted additional powers to keep economy stable


Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed decree No.93 on additional measures to ensure the stable functioning of the economy, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

The document contains measures designed to improve the stability of the economy amid sanctions. The decree outlines additional support for real sector enterprises, housing construction, small and medium private businesses, which export products or make import substitutes.

In order to realize these measures, the government has been vested with additional powers in the spheres of investment, budget and finance, taxation. The powers allow promptly making decisions, including decisions to keep the state budget balanced against an expected decrease in revenues.

Apart from that, the Council of Ministers has been given a broad choice of tools to promptly respond to unfriendly actions of foreign countries.
