Belarus' Defense Ministry dismisses speculations about ongoing covert mobilization as disinformation

Speculations claiming that a covert mobilization campaign is in progress in Belarus are disinformation, the Defense Ministry told BelTA.

According to the Defense Ministry, military registration and enlistment offices check records every year. The ongoing campaign is routine and is supposed to end by the end of the year. Citizens are summoned to military registration and enlistment offices routinely, including by phone, by mobile texts, and draft notices. Persons, who are eligible for military service, are summoned to the offices for the sake of verifying and updating their records, getting informed about training events, and for being drafted for active military service. It takes 10-15 minutes at most to verify and update records of one draft-age person.

The Belarusian Defense Ministry added that records of all the registered persons, who are eligible for military service, will be verified and updated from mid-November till the end of the year. The Defense Ministry also dismissed speculations about an ongoing covert mobilization campaign as disinformation.
