Putin arrives in Belarus on official visit
President of Russia Vladimir Putin has arrived in Belarus on an official visit. The aircraft of the Russian head of state landed at Minsk National Airport, BelTA has learned.
Official negotiations between Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of Russia Vladimir Putin will take place in the Palace of Independence on 24 May.
The parties are expected to discuss the state and prospects of development of the entire range of Belarusian-Russian relations: the integration agenda and the implementation of decisions made by the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the political dialogue, promotion of joint trade, economic, and manufacturing cooperation projects, efforts to reinforce security, and interaction in humanitarian affairs.
The international agenda, the situation in the region, and joint responses to emerging challenges and threats will also be traditionally in the center of attention.
Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko warmly greeted the Russian leader at the airport. The leaders of the countries made a number of statements for mass media about the agenda of the forthcoming negotiations. They intend to discuss security matters first and continue the dialogue about economic affairs with members of the governments on 24 May. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin left the airport together then in order to continue the informal communication and negotiations about current affairs.
