The Russian Center of Science and Culture in Helsinki is hosting the exhibition “Khatyn Tragedy. 80 years of pain, sorrow and memory”, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Finland.
The exposition has been developed jointly with the National Archives of Belarus and the Khatyn Memorial Complex. The exhibition showcases photos of different years, reflecting the memory of the civilians - victims of the Nazi invaders, and unique documentary evidence of the crimes committed by the invaders in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War.
Attending the opening of the exhibition were ambassadors of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan to Finland, representatives of the Russian Center for Science and Culture, and compatriots living in Finland.
The event also included the presentation of the book “The Genocide of the Belarusian People. Information and Analytical Materials and Documents” prepared by the General Prosecutor's Office of Belarus.
Belarus' Ambassador to Finland Aleksei Samosuyev emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the tragic events of the Great Patriotic War and preventing the distortion of the historical truth. “The word ‘Khatyn' rings a bell in the hearts of every Belarusian, Russian and compatriots. Khatyn is remembered all over the world,” the Belarusian diplomat said.
