A regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth was held at the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk on 28 February. Members of the Council discussed the draft agenda of the next meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council due in Sochi, BelTA has learned.
“The preliminary date for the Sochi meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council is 7-8 June. The date was suggested by the Russian side. This meeting will be packed with events that are due on 7-9 June,” CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev said.
According to him, the agenda of the meeting is traditionally extensive and includes 15 points. In particular, the heads of government will discuss an agreement on free trade in services. These days the document is undergoing final approval procedures. “We very much hope that the heads of government will sign an agreement on free trade in services,” the CIS secretary general said.
The heads of government will also exchange views on topical issues of economic cooperation. “There will be a number of documents, including economic and financial papers. One of the important ones, in my opinion, is the CIS industrial cooperation concept. This is also an interesting and important matter. We hope that a set of measures will also be adopted to elaborate and implement the document. The document came out well. Some time ago the heads of government approved the regulation on the CIS youth capital and now we are moving on to the implementation of this document. The heads of government are expected to approve candidates seeking the status of the CIS youth capital,” Sergei Lebedev added.
