Capella Cracoviensis to perform chamber music in Polotsk on 7 April

The Polish professional music ensemble Capella Cracoviensis will perform in Polotsk on 7 April to open the program of the 29th International Festival of Ancient and Contemporary Chamber Music, BelTA learned from Yelena Martynova, the head of the concert department at the Saint Sophia Cathedral.

"The guests from Krakow will take part in the festival for the first time. Capella Cracoviensis is a Baroque ensemble comprising eminent musicians from Poland, the Netherlands, France, and Finland. Their special feature is that they perform early music. True music lovers will have a wonderful opportunity to enjoy their performance at one of the best concert halls in Europe," Yelena Martynova noted.

Capella Cracoviensis perform chamber music from Renaissance to the 20th-century avant-garde. They conduct ambitious art projects and cooperate with renowned European soloists, conductors, and ensembles of singers and instrumentalists. Capella Cracoviensis regularly participate in such famous European festivals as the Haydn Festival in Bruhl, the Leipzig Bach Festival, and the Handel Festival in Halle. In Polotsk, they will perform symphonies by Haydn, Mozart, and pieces by Polish composers of the 18th-early 20th centuries.

The 29th International Festival of Ancient and Contemporary Chamber Music kicked off in Polotsk on 24 March and will run till 27 April. Its program features seven concerts by eminent musicians from Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Austria, and China. On 10 April, the Saint Sophia Cathedral will host a concert Singing Boys organized by the Belarusian Union of Musicians. The program also features concerts by the chamber orchestra Europe-Center and soloist Ksenia Pogorelaya, soloist of the Belarusian Academic Music Theater Anna Belyayeva and pianist Yulia Pereu.

The festival will conclude on 27 April with a concert of music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart whose 260th birthday is celebrated around the world in 2016. The concert will feature the Symphony Orchestra of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company conducted by Erki Pehk, Estonia.
