Belarus’ next population census scheduled for 2030
Belarus’ next population census will take place in 2030, BelTA learned from Chairwoman of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus Inna Medvedeva.
Inna Medvedeva said: “Belarus precisely follows UN requirements regarding the organization of population censuses every ten years. The next census will take place in 2030.”
Speaking about preparations for the population census, Inna Medvedeva noted that the National Statistics Committee is working to pull even more information from existing registries and databases of government agencies, organizations so that people would have fewer questions to answer themselves. “In order to switch to registry-based censuses, some countries create statistical registries of the population. Today we are establishing the concept for creating such a registry,” the official added.
Three population censuses have already been held since Belarus became independent. In 2019 the population census was a paperless one and combined online form filling with home visits by census takers.
