The president's message is aimed at strengthening the foreign policy positions of Belarus, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Ambrazevich said as he commented on the president's Address to the nation and the parliament on 31 March, BelTA has learned.
“We would like to hope that sooner or later the world diplomacy will get back to its former positions. And all international problems, as emphasized by the head of state, will be solved at the negotiating table - the problems of Ukraine, our relations with our Western neighbors and the problems of the global world order,” Yuri Ambrazevich said.
According to the deputy minister, there are no other options but the peaceful resolution of emerging problems. “According to the Constitution, the head of state determines the country's foreign policy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the executive body that implements it. The president's message today is consistent and clear. It is aimed at strengthening our foreign policy positions, trade and economic relations with the faraway countries as well as our main allies, Russia and China. It is also aimed at strengthening our defense capabilities. As the president emphasized today, an independent foreign policy is one of the fundamental factors of our sovereignty,” the deputy minister of foreign affairs concluded.
