The Dokshitsy region is located in the South West of Vitebsk oblast. It occupies an area of 2,265 square kilometers. It stretches for 55 km from North to South and for 75 km from East to West. Some 46% of the region's territory is covered with forests. There are the following rivers in the region: Berezina, Vilia, Ponya and Servech. There are also 11 lakes, namely, Servech, Plavno, Olshitsa, Mezhuzhol, Domashkovskoye, Stanislavskoye, Chernoye, Moskovitsa, Veshnevskoye, Medzozol, Manets.
The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, located within the district, covers 40,359 hectares. Forest lands occupy an area of 120,587 hectares. The district's agricultural land area is 70,700 hectares, including 40,600 hectares of arable land and 29,600 hectares of meadow land. Sandy loam and sandy soils account for 77 percent of the district's land, peatlands account for 18 percent, and loamy soils account for 4 percent. Mineral resources in the district include peat, clay, gravel, and sapropel.
