MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – In January-May Belarus’ energy system produced 14.5 billion kWh of electricity, up 14.2 from the same period a year earlier. The production of heat energy increased by 10.2% to 19.2 million GCal, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics Committee. In the five months January to May the production of resources amounted to Br4.560 trillion, up 12.5% from the same period of last year. An increase in the production of electricity was due to the increased consumption of electricity in the country as compared to last year. One of the reasons was colder winter this year, BelTA learnt from the Belenergo state production association.
