Belarus President in UAE on working visit

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is in the United Arab Emirates on a working visit, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

The agenda of the visit includes meetings with the UAE high officials to discuss the priority areas of bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic and investment sectors, including the prospects of joint projects in third countries.

According to the Foreign Ministry of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to the United Arab Emirates was preceded by a visit of the Belarusian delegation led by Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei to the UAE on 21-22 October.

Cooperation areas between the two countries were considered at the second meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee between the Governments of Belarus and the UAE. The Belarusian delegation also attended the first meeting of the Belarusian-UAE Joint Business Council. The Foreign Minister of Belarus also held meetings with Vice Premier, Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Economy Sultan Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Energy Department of Abu Dhabi Nasser Al Sowaidi.

During the visit of the Belarusian delegation to the UAE the two countries signed agreements on extradition and mutual legal assistance in criminal cases as well as the memorandum of holding political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and the UAE.
