As a child, Igor did not think about working in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, he wanted to become a policeman, like his uncle, or an athlete, because since childhood he was fond of sports. In 2012, he graduated from the Vitebsk School of the Olympic Reserve, was a member of the Republican national track and field team. He even entered the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports at the VSU named after P. Masherov, but after the first year he decided to leave and connect his life with saving people.

– I participate in the republican contest "The best lifeguard of emergency departments of the Republic of Belarus" every year. In 2019, I also won these competitions, " the source said. – Somehow I don't prepare specifically for them, I just keep myself in shape and participate in other competitions throughout the year, so I hone my skills and gain experience.

This year, the republican contest for the title of the best lifeguard of the country was held near Borisov, in the village of Svetlyaya Roscha, where 54 of the best EMERCOM employees overcame all sorts of obstacles: they tested themselves for strength at the distance of "Psychological Training Lane", passed through a destroyed bridge, a fire barrier, a maze, a high-rise overpass, overcame a suspended ferry in conditions close to to combat (fire, smoke). However, our fellow countryman was the best.

– You know, there is no secret to success. I was lucky that even before I started working in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, I connected my life with sports, because this is a good hardening. The main thing is desire, then everything is possible. If you have it, there will be training grounds and people who are always ready to help and support you – " Igor Zheltkevich emphasized.
