Belarusian border service clarifies restrictions on leaving country

Departure from the country is temporarily restricted for citizens of Belarus and foreign citizens, who have permanent or temporary residence permits in Belarus, representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

There are a number of exceptions to this rule. They are specified on the Belarusian border service's website, the section “COVID-19: crossing the border of the Republic of Belarus”.

According to the source, the State Border Committee of Belarus has been getting lately quite a lot of questions about leaving the country using foreign residence permits. The border service explained that only citizens with a document that confirms their right to permanent residence in another country can leave Belarus. Temporary residence permits cannot give the right to leave Belarus.
