Belarus, Pakistan discuss cooperation between strategic research institutes

 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Andrei Metelitsa met with Mr Sohail Mahmood, Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad (ISSI), on 12 April, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Pakistan.

The parties discussed the current agenda of bilateral relations, cooperation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other international organizations. Consideration was also given to ways of expanding cooperation between the think tanks of Belarus and Pakistan, including between the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research (BISR) and the Institute for Strategic Studies of Islamabad.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were established on 3 February 1994. After the opening of the Belarusian embassy in Islamabad in November 2014, the Belarusian-Pakistani relations have intensified significantly.
