Lukashenko orders to set up working group to review performance of National Academy of Sciences

On 18 June Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed a decree to set up a permanent working group to review the performance of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the head of state.
The working group will include independent  experts, reputable scientists with deep knowledge of and extensive experience in science and public administration. Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov has been appointed head of the working group.
The working group will study practicality and effectiveness of the work done by the National Academy of Sciences, review progress to introduce scientific outputs into the economy and social sector, study the development of import-substituting products and technologies, and the export of sci-tech products.
If necessary, senior officials and specialists of central government agencies and other organizations as well as experts in a specific field will be involved in the work of the group.
Every year, by 15 July (by 1 November this year), the working group will submit a performance review and proposals for addressing specific issues to the president.
The State Committee on Science and Technology will provide organizational support to the working group.
