Lukashenko arrives in UAE on working visit
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived in the United Arab Emirates on a working visit. The Belarusian air force one landed at Abu Dhabi International Airport, BelTA has learned.
Immediately upon arrival, Aleksandr Lukashenko held talks with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.
"Thank you for your hospitality. I would like to discuss a number of matters related to our relations, meet with investors, who work in Belarus and invest in our economy," the head of state said.
According to the press service of the Belarusian leader, Aleksandr Lukashenko is set to hold a number of meetings and negotiations, which will focus on ways to continue and promote trade, economic, investment and humanitarian cooperation. Other areas of mutual interest will be on the agenda.
The day before, Aleksandr Lukashenko visited Oman on a working visit. The high-level talks in Muscat crowned mutual efforts to raise interaction to a new level.
One of Oman's key proposals is to create a hub for Belarusian goods here. The locals have been engaged in commerce for centuries, and Belarus needs such partners very much. The parties intend to update the roadmap for cooperation in the near future, and then the Sultan himself is expected to pay a visit to Minsk.
“Together with Sultan we actually defined our action plan. We have set up an intergovernmental commission and since yesterday we have started working out a roadmap, a plan of our actions. The Sultan of Oman will come to Belarus in the middle of next year. We will approve this roadmap and the plan,” the president said.
Delegations from both sides worked actively on the margins of the visit. In addition to meetings and negotiations in the ministries, the parties signed a number of documents in the field of industry, standardization and conformity assessment. The ministries worked out specific mechanisms for building cooperation and real projects and agreed on local roadmaps. In accordance with these roadmaps, mutual visits at the level of business communities will take place in the near future. Their representatives will work on building long-term and reliable relations.
