Vitebsk to host session of chambers of commerce and industry of Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova

VITEBSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Vitebsk is expected to host a business session of the chambers of commerce and industry of Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova in June this year, BelTA learnt from deputy director general of the Vitebsk office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Valery Valiushkin. Vitebsk will gather the chiefs of the central and regional offices of the chambers of commerce and industries and also representatives of the business communities of the three countries. The sides are set to discuss the expansion of cooperation between the chambers and business companies of the three countries, to identify new areas of interaction and outline the spheres of interests to boost mutually beneficial business contacts. Vitebsk will organize presentations of the investment potential of the oblast, business meetings and visits to the companies of the region with a view to establishing new direct contracts and setting up joint ventures. In 2010 the Vitebsk office of the BCCI will hold around 20 exhibitions and fairs in the region and neighboring countries, and also organize five business missions of Belarus abroad. This year the Vitebsk office will focus on the promotion of Belarusian-made products to foreign markets, strengthening of export potential of companies and support of local foreign economic initiatives. The fairs organized by the Vitebsk office jointly with the city administrations of St. Petersburg and Pskov will be held in these Russian cities on a regular basis. The office will continue the practice of holding fairs “Slavic Kaleidoscope” and “Vitebsk oblast for the healthy lifestyle” and exhibition projects in Orsha and Polotsk. In 2010 the Vitebsk plans to step up cooperation with the frontier regions of Russia and the Baltic states. This presupposes the organization of Belarus’ participation in business events in these regions and assistance to the establishment of business contacts and search for foreign partners. The Vitebsk office will organize visits of businessmen from Moscow, Tula, Smolensk and Pskov to the Vitebsk oblast with a view to expanding the business cooperation between regional business communities. In 2009 the Vitebsk office of the BCCI organized more than 20 foreign economic events. More than 150 economic entities from all regions of Belarus attended these events.
