A festival of murals is planned to take place in Vitebsk as part of the 26th international festival of arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, BelTA learned from Belarus Culture Minister Boris Svetlov.
In his words, the idea to decorate the buildings in Chagall's city was among the proposals submitted during the Cultural Initiatives for Belarus contest held in 2016, the Year of Culture in Belarus.
The contest was about brand new ideas, and such included some 30 projects.
This is, first of all, the projects aimed at supporting youth initiatives, new forms of creativity, ideas in different art types, said Boris Svetlov. Some of the proposals will be implemented this year. Among them is the idea to paint murals on the buildings of the festive Vitebsk. Such projects have already been implemented in Minsk, on the industrial buildings in Oktyabrskaya Street. The initiative can be supported by other cities. It is important to have the interest from the local authorities, the minister stressed.
Boris Svetlov also added that the completion of the Year of Culture does not mean the end to cultural initiatives. Interesting proposals will always get positive feedback in the ministry, he said.
