Vitebsk to host Chagall readings
VERKHNEDVINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – The highlight of the celebrations of the 125th birthday of Marc Chagall in Vitebsk will be the 22nd international Chagall readings, BelTA learnt from Director of the Marc Chagall Museum Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya. The scientific conference will take place in the museum on 9-10 June. Partaking in it will be art critics, historians and archivists from Russia, Belarus, Germany and Latvia. They will discuss issues related to the biography and creative work of Marc Chagall, the history of the Vitebsk People’s Art College. The readings will be accompanied by an exhibition “History of the Vitebsk People’s Art College. 1918-1923” featuring the materials of the State Archive of Vitebsk Oblast, the Vitebsk Oblast History Museum, the Vitebsk Center of Modern Art, and the Marc Chagall Museum. The celebrations in Vitebsk will include more than 40 festive events which are to be held throughout the year.БЕЛТА
