Vitebsk to celebrate Marc Chagall's birthday

VITEBSK, 7 July (BelTA) – By tradition Vitebsk will arrange the event "Visiting Marc and Bella's" to celebrate Marc Chagall's birthday, BelTA learned from Director of the Vitebsk Marc Chagall Museum Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya.

The annual festival will be held in the garden of the Marc Chagall House-Museum in Pokrovskaya Street. The organizers invite the city residents and guests to attend the literary-musical evening with the participation of Jewish artists. The daughter of the late Chairman of the Chagall Committee David Simanovich will read the poems of her father.

The Marc Chagall Museum includes the Chagall Art Center and Memorial House-Museum. The art center was opened in 1992. It has about 300 graphic works by Marc Chagall, 200 sheets of printed graphics of European avant-garde artists. The scientific library of the museum has 5,000 books dedicated to Marc Chagall, European and Russian avant-garde artists. Every year the Marc Chagall Museum Vitebsk is visited by more than 30,000 tourists.
