Vitebsk philharmonic opening branches in agro-towns, gives classical music concerts

Vitebsk Oblast Philharmonic is opening a kind of a branch — a philharmonic hall in agro-town Novyye Goryany in the Polotsk region. It will be the 14th philharmonic hall Vitebsk Oblast Philharmonic is opening as part of the State Village Revival and Development Programme, Deputy Director of Vitebsk Oblast Philharmonic Anna Olekhnovich told BelTA. Community centres in agro-towns have a well-developed infrastructure. Today it is technically easy to arrange concerts of the philharmonic in the renewed villages. Bringing artists is enough, said the source. Concerts are given twice a month. The repertoire varies from folklore songs and dances to classical music concerts. Thanks to the versatility and live performances the philharmonic is attracting more and more fans. Special programmes are available to children and teenagers teaching them the basics of classical art and shaping a taste for good music. According to Anna Olekhnovich, the interest in philharmonic concerts is huge. “People have been striving for good music and genuine voices and take pleasure in attending performances at community centres,” she added. Before the year is out, another philharmonic hall will be set up in the oblast, with plans to open a philharmonic hall in each of the 21 regions of the oblast.
