Vitebsk Oblast runs budget surplus in Q1

VITEBSK, 28 April (BelTA) – Vitebsk Oblast showed a budget surplus of Br67 billion in Q1 2012, head of the financial department of the Vitebsk oblast executive committee Boris Kichanovsky said at the 20th session of the Vitebsk Oblast Council of Deputies of the 26th convocation. In January-March 2012 the oblast demonstrated positive dynamics in almost all social and economic development parameters. Vibrant economic activity boosted revenue to both the regional and oblast budgets. In the first three months of 2012 the local budget received nearly Br1.6 trillion in taxes and non-tax payments. A considerable support from the oblast budget has been provided to the agricultural sector. Expenditure on the spring sowing campaign has been increased by Br280.2 billion. Vitebsk Governor Alexander Kosinets noted that in the previous years the region implemented a number of large-scale projects in various areas. The region used Br2.5 billion to buy new agricultural equipment to upgrade the oblast agricultural machinery fleet. There were built nearly 30 new dairies in the region. Over 40 dairies were upgraded. Upgrade projects were also implemented at the Glubokoye and Miory meat-packing plants, Verkhnedvinsk creamery and other companies. New cheese producing workshops are under construction at the Postavy Dairy and the Braslav subsidiary of the Glubokoye Diary.
