Tursab interested in organizing tours to Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 20 April (BelTA) – Tursab, the Union of Turkish Travel Agencies, is showing an interest in organizing tours to Vitebsk Oblast, BelTA learnt from Alexei Matyushko, chief of staff of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee. Representatives of Turkish travel companies will visit Vitebsk Oblast in late August to get familiar with local tourism opportunities. They will make a presentation video and prepare advertising materials about the type of recreation that can be offered to foreign visitors. The agreement on this was reached during a visit of the Vitebsk oblast delegation to the Republic of Turkey organized with the support of the Embassy of Belarus in Turkey. According to Alexei Matyushko, the Turkish side is very interested in organizing hunting tours, agri-tourism, historical and medical tourism. The Belarusian delegation also got familiar with the tourism business system at the TTA Travel Company. The Krupenino recreation center is ready to adopt its experience in attracting foreign visitors. According to the Department of Physical Education, Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee, in January-February 2011 the oblast provided tourist services worth more than Br4 billion. The export of services made up $1.5 million, up 91% over the same period a year ago. The oblast posted trade surplus of $1.3 million. In 2010 Vitebsk Oblast provided Br28.7 billion worth of tourist services, a 30% growth in comparable prices over 2009. The export of tourist service exceeded $9 million, up 50% as compared to 2009. Trade surplus reached $7.9 million.
