Tertel: Self-exiled opposition asked Western curators to give $250m for operations against Belarus

MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) – The self-exiled opposition asked their Western sponsors to provide $250 million for subversive activities against Belarus, Chairman of the State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus Ivan Tertel told reporters, BelTA has learned.

According to him, most of ill-wishers live abroad and rely on the self-exiled opposition based in Vilnius and Warsaw. The KGB has recently received information from Western Europe about another financial request of the self-exiled opposition. “They asked to give them $230-250 million for the subversive activities that they are planning to carry out against Belarus in the near future,” Ivan Tertel said.

He noted that some of Western politicians and officials support them, while others are outraged, because these financial resources are needed in these countries for other national purposes. “I would like to use this opportunity to recommend fiscal and regulatory authorities of the United States, Poland, Lithuania, Germany, and some other countries to have a careful look at the funds that act as front organizations to finance subversive activities in the Republic of Belarus. A whole group of professional money launderers have rallied around them. This activity should be examined by law enforcement agencies of these states,” the KGB chief said. He emphasized that the state security agencies of Belarus are ready to counter threats, including jointly with colleagues from the CIS countries.
