Russian, Kazakhstani painters to partake in Marc Chagall plein air

VITEBSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Russian and Kazakhstani painters have come to Vitebsk to take part in a plein air marking the 125th birthday of Marc Chagall and the 120th anniversary of the Zdravnevo estate purchase by Ilya Repin, BelTA learnt from organizer of the tour Larisa Petrovskaya. Apart from members of the national unions of artists, Vitebsk has also welcomed art students. The guests will draw Vitebsk, its suburbs, portraits of its residents. The plein air will be followed by an exhibition in St Petersburg. The guests will be also given tours of the places directly related to the names of well-known painters, Vitebsk museums and art exhibitions. Professional artists will get acquainted with the works of famous contemporary artists from Vitebsk – successors of the traditions of the famous Vitebsk art school. The students will also attend the master classes of Vitebsk professors. According to Larisa Petrovskaya, students of the Vitebsk art schools have been invited to participate in the plein air. The plein air will be running until June 29. Its participants will be able to attend the City Day celebrations. According to Larisa Petrovskaya, they enthusiastically accepted the invitation to take part in the festive procession on June 23 and are preparing nice gifts to Vitebsk and its citizens.
