Rendezvous with Brazil exhibition opens in Vitebsk
The exhibition “Rendezvous with Brazil” featuring the works by 14 Belarusian artists opened in the Art Museum of Vitebsk on 12 July, in the run up to the Slavianski Bazaar, BelTA has learned.
The exhibition was presented by the Embassy of Brazil in Belarus. On display are several dozen works made in different techniques: painting, graphics, art object, installation, watercolor. Through the synthesis of arts, artists show their vision of the distant country.
"The exhibition is a way to bring closer two cultures, Belarusian and Brazilian. It is also an attempt to destroy some of the stereotypes about Brazil (the carnival, Amazon forests) and expand the understanding of the country. It is also a kind of tool to inspire people to start studying the culture of Brazil," Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to Belarus Bernard Jorg Leopold de Garcia Klingl told reporters.
All the works by Belarusian artists from different cities and regions have been created specifically for this project. "These are very talented people. They've never been to Brazil, but they depicted the country as they see it after a little research. All the works are of the highest quality, and I really like them," the ambassador added.
The ambassador said he will try to motivate Brazilian artists to do something similar about Belarus.
The project has already been to Minsk and Grodno. The exhibition in Vitebsk will stay open after the festival, until 27 August.
