Rector of Vitebsk vet academy becomes Belarus’ first RAAS academician in veterinary
VITEBSK, 29 February (BelTA) – Rector of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine (VSAVM) Anton Yatusevich has become Belarus’ first academician in veterinary of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (RAAS), BelTA learnt from the academy. Anton Yatusevich was named academician of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences at the annual general meeting of the academy. During the event he made a report on sanitation of livestock sector from infectious and parasitic animal diseases and development of veterinary science on the whole. The scientists also discussed the prospects of cooperation between VSAVM and RAAS. A decision was taken to hold a joint conference at VSAVM dedicated to the prevention of animal dangerous and extremely dangerous diseases. The Vitebsk Academy of Veterinary Medicine is an acknowledged center of higher education and science of Belarus. It consists of 5 faculties, 28 departments, an agrarian college, affiliates in Rechitsa and Pinsk, the Scientific Research Institute of Applied Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology and the Republican Laboratory of Information Technologies. The academy employs 171 candidates and 23 Doctors of Sciences. Anton Yatusevich has been rector of the Vitebsk Academy of Veterinary Medicine since 1998. He is Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, professor, corresponding member of the Petrovskaya Academy of Sciences and Arts, academician of the Academy of Agricultural Education of the Russian Federation, academician of the International Academy of information Technologies and honored worker of science of the Republic of Belarus.БЕЛТА
