Polotsk to host medieval culture festival 23-25 May
VITEBSK, 15 May (BelTA) – The festival of medieval culture Rubon 2014 will take place in Polotsk on 23-25 May, BelTA learned from the Polotsk District Executive Committee.
The festival of medieval culture will be held in the Year of Hospitality. It will feature the Belarusian national cuisine and museum ethnography. The event in Polotsk will include the culinary festival, theater adaptations with museum exhibits, historical reenactment of stages of development of Polotsk District. The festival will be held near one of Belarus’ tourist brands – Saint Sophia Cathedral, according to the Polotsk District Executive Committee.
The medieval festival in Polotsk is interesting for knights clubs and tourists from Russia, Lithuania and Poland. In 2010 the Rubon festival was included in the international tourism project BellaDvina. The festival’s schedule includes an archery competition, medieval knights’ tournaments, individual and team competitions in historical fencing.
