Polotsk bakery doubles extrusion bread production

VITEBSK, 24 May (BelTA) – The Polotsk bakery has virtually doubled the production of extrusion bread. The output went up from slightly more than 10 tonnes per month in January-February to 18 tonnes in April, director of the enterprise Sergei Leichenko told BelTA. In his words, at present the bakery offers 12 types of such bread. In June the bakery will offer six new types: bread with chicken, bacon, paprika, mushrooms, onions with sour cream flavors as well as fruit filling. The latter will include strawberry, yoghurt, chocolate, nuts, cheery or caramel flavors. This year the enterprise plans to triple the extrusion bread product range up to 32 titles and raise the output up to 40-45 tonnes per month. New products from the Polotsk bakery are already available across Belarus. The enterprise is opening representative offices in all the oblast cities. Negotiations are in progress to supply extrusion bread to Russia. The Polotsk bakery started manufacturing extrusion bread in late 2009 after buying a ?1 million French line able to turn out 100-140 kg of extrusion bread per hour. Extrusion bread is available as healthy eating bread (without additives), health-improving bread (useful minerals and vitamins), bread chips, and bread with fruit filling. In January-April the Polotsk bakery turned out Br4.2 billion worth of products, 19.1% up on the same period of 2009. The profitability of sales is over 8%. According to preliminary data, in January-May the export doubled to reach $18,000. The enterprise exports the make to Russia. The Polotsk bakery was founded in 1933. It specializes in pastry products, crispy bread products, confectionery, sauces and mustard. The product range includes around 70 titles, with 30-40% renewed every year. The enterprise employs over 240 people.
