Poll: Belarusians are confident about their future

A recent poll suggests that Belarusians are confident about their future, Director of the EcooM think tank Sergei Musiyenko told BelTA.

The respondents were asked “How do you think your life will change in the future?”. 79.2% of respondents answered “It will change for the better or remain the same”, 5.7% said that “It will change for the worse” and 15.1% found it difficult to answer.

“Belarusians are confident about their well-being in the future, the well-being of their families, children, and the prosperity of the country. The answer given by 79.2% of the respondents reflects their attitude to the prospects of the domestic healthcare, education, and culture. A sense of the future is a philosophical notion that encompasses our entire lives. When people feel this way, it means that society as a whole feels fine,” said Sergei Musiyenko.

“15.1% of the respondents found it difficult to answer. There are people who you need to reach out to and explain things. Apathy, including social apathy, negatively affects human immunity. It is worth studying more closely the reasons for the failure to answer this question. By the way, we conducted a poll before the Marathon of Unity, before the ‘Run for president’ campaign ongoing in the country. I think that after these campaigns, the share of respondents saying ‘I find it difficult to answer’ will decrease. These campaigns are designed to reach out to people not only through newspapers, the Internet, television, but also through direct outreach efforts. People who participate in the Marathon of Unity feel this unity, they look at life differently,” said Sergei Musiyenko.

The sociological survey “Factors of sustainable development” was conducted by EcooM from 1 to 21 October 2024. The survey polled 1,580 people of different gender, age,  educational attainments, place of residence and region. The error of the poll is below 2.5%.
