Patriarch Kirill pledges to consecrate new church in Vitebsk
VITEBSK, 4 June (BelTA) – Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill blessed the forthcoming festivities in Polotsk timed to the 100th anniversary of translation of the relics of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk, First Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Novatsky told reporters at the Vitebsk airport, BelTA has learnt. According to Vladimir Novatsky, the Patriarch said that he is happy to come to Belarus and meet with believers and residents of Belarus. Despite the busy schedule, he promised to take part in the opening and consecration of the Assumption Cathedral Church in Vitebsk scheduled for autumn 2010. The Patriarch blessed the ongoing session of the Synod of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, Archbishop of Vitebsk and Orsha Dimitry told reporters. In his words, Patriarch Kirill pointed out to the importance of cooperation between religious and secular authorities.БЕЛТА
