Over 30 CIS observers to monitor elections in Vitebsk Oblast on election day

VITEBSK, 20 September (BelTA) – Over 30 observers from the CIS are going to monitor the elections at polling stations located in Vitebsk Oblast on election day, BelTA learnt from deputy head of the HR management department of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee Leonid Dorofeyenko. Other short-term observers include members of the OSCE/ODIHR mission. Over 4,000 domestic observers are going to monitor the elections. Thus, some four or even more observers on the average will be present at each polling station. Forty-two parliamentary candidates are standing for elections at 14 electoral districts of Vitebsk Oblast, including 22 party members. As of the morning of 20 September, some 8.3% of voters of the region took part in early voting. There are 898 polling stations in Vitebsk Oblast, including 48 in health farms, recreation facilities, hospitals and other healthcare and recuperation facilities, two in military units. Early voting is conducted at 850 polling stations.
