Orsha, Marupe Municipality of Latvia establish economic cooperation
VITEBSK, 4 December (BelTA) – Orsha and Marupe Municipality of Latvia are establishing economic cooperation, BelTA learnt from Mr Oleg Smirnovsky, Deputy Chairman of the Orsha City Council. Representatives of Marupe Municipality are in Orsha on their first official visit. "We have had no business contacts before. We contacted the Consulate of Latvia in Vitebsk, and with their help reached to Marupe Municipality authorities and invited them on a business visit. Particular emphasis was placed on establishing economic contacts,” said Mr Oleg Smirnovsky. The Latvian delegation, which arrived in Orsha on 3 December, includes representatives of the largest enterprises of Marupe Municipality and businessmen, including the owner of Aneira OOO, the chairman for development at Marupe Duma, Chairman of the Board of the Association for the Management of European Projects EPVA, Member of the Board of the Riga International Airport and others. The extensive program includes visits to about 15 major enterprises of Orsha District: Orsha Linen Mill, bakery, clothing companies Svitanak, Nit, Dinamo Program Orsha, the arts products factory, OAOs Belovezhskiye Syry and Orshastrojmaterialy, plants Legmash and Krasny Borets, and the plant of reinforced concrete products and structures. "Representatives of the Marupe delegation got familiar with some of the enterprises the day before. They expressed interest in sewing and construction enterprises ", said Mr Oleg Smirnovsky adding that a cooperation agreement is expected to be signed following the visit, which will end on 5 December. In January-September this year the trade between Orsha and Latvia amounted to more than $1.3 million, up 4 times from the same period 2011. Industrial enterprises of Orsha supply Latvia with bed and table linen, kitchen utensils, various types of fabrics (Orsha Linen Mill), casein (Orsha Dairy), and cutting tools (OAO Orsha Machine Tool Works).БЕЛТА
