Orsha logistics center receives test cargo batch from China

VITEBSK, 21 March (BelTA) – A test batch of cargoes has been delivered from China to the future multimodal transportation and logistics center in Orsha and is going through customs procedures, Director of Orsha Aircraft Repairs Plant Vladimir Troitsky told BelTA. By doing so the Hong Kong-based company CBT Development (logistics) Limited has completed technical preparations for the investment project to build the transportation and logistics center in Orsha. A presentation of the project is scheduled for late March. After that the contract to set up the transportation and logistics center will be signed. The facility will be located at the crossroads of the international transport corridors No 2 and No 9. The local airfield can welcome virtually any aircraft. Railway access is available nearby. The logistics center will be able to service cargo flows from Warsaw, Tallinn and other destinations in the future. The project envisages building warehouses, an open-air storage facility for containers and bulky goods, a bank office, an insurance company office, a business center and a hotel. The future logistics center will occupy about 100,000 square meters. The project is expected to require $50 million in investments. Under favorable conditions cargo flows will double, reducing the payback time from nine to three years. Apart from the territorial, manufacturing and technical advantages the project will get preferences in line with regulations on preferential business terms for small towns and in line with decree No 10. According to Director of Orsha Aircraft Repairs Plant Vladimir Troitsky, the center will allow stepping up international transportation by air, rail and road, enhancing and increasing the workload of the aircraft repairs plant infrastructure and contributing to the development of the town of Bolbasovo where the enterprise is located. The Hong Kong-based company CBT Development (logistics) Limited has been delegated the authority of an investment agent of Belarus. The company has been created by a Singapore public real estate investment fund and a private investment fund that specializes in infrastructure, real estate and telecommunications in order to implement the project to build the transportation and logistics center near Orsha.
