Orsha Linen Mill opens representation in Warsaw

ORSHA, 17 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian company Orsha Linen Mill opened a representative office in Warsaw, Poland in January 2012, the company’s Director General Vladimir Nesterenko told media on 17 January. The company’s distribution chain includes six shops in Belarus and several representative offices abroad. In late 2011 the company opened a representative office in Ivanovo, Russian Federation. According to the source, the company is working hard to reduce the finished goods inventory. “Every day we sell 20% more than we make. There are changes,” said Vladimir Nesterenko. At present the finished goods inventory is estimated at Br64 billion, with some products staying in warehouses since 2007. Orsha Linen Mill is a leading manufacturer of light industry and textile products in Belarus and CIS. It was founded in 1930. The company employed over 5,700 people in early 2012, or 30% of Orsha’s production sector employees. In 2007-2009 the company underwent retooling to expand the choice of linen fabrics. The company can process about 25,000 tonnes of flax fiber per annum and make up to 30 million square meters of linen. The choice of products includes 2,000 titles. In 2011 the company exported products to seven CIS states and 21 non-CIS states. According to preliminary data, the profitability of sales in 2011 will reach 19.6%. Net profit will exceed Br70 billion. The foreign trade surplus will be $28 million. Orsha Linen Mill became a resident company of the free economic zone Vitebsk in 2011. It will implement a project worth $38.7 million to retool the company.
