Music festival in Dubrovno to bring together artists from eight countries
VITEBSK, 17 June (BelTA) – A nightingale is the symbol of the song and music festival “Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno”. The 18th festival on 17-19 June will bring together artistes from eight countries, the chief of the culture department of the Dubrovno Regional executive Committee Ekaterina Labuko told BelTA. The festival will welcome 25 professional and amateur art groups from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Slovakia. For the first time the festival will feature artists from Moldova. All of them will show their skills in concerts in Dubrovno and other towns of the region. Hospitable Dubrovno has prepared many surprises for its guests: a theatrical and historical performance, exhibitions of national cuisine clubs, and handicrafts. In turn, guests will bring national hand made dolls as souvenirs. Over the years the festival has gathered a collection of them, which will be put on display during the festival. The festival will culminate in a gala concert. Every participant will get a souvenir “A Dnieper Nightingale”, a ceramic figurine of a singing bird. According to Ekaterina Labuko such festivals help establish cultural ties between countries, enrich the national culture and promote a positive image of the region. The song and music festival “Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno” was founded in 1993. Since 1995, the festival has been attended by arts groups from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. Latvian artists joined the festival in 2006, and a year later Lithuanian and Estonian friends. In 2008, the festival welcomed representatives of Poland. Artists from Slovakia came for the festival in 2009. In 2004, Tthe song and music festival “Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno” received an international status. The festival is held annually in June and is timed to the Day of Liberation of Dubrovno from the Nazis.БЕЛТА
