MP: Türkiye remains Belarus' strategic partner

Türkiye has been and remains Belarus' strategic partner, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Andrei Savinykh told reporters, BelTA has learned.

On 3 March Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to the Republic of Belarus Mustafa Özcan.

“First of all, I want to emphasize that Belarus and Türkiye have a very high level of relations. And most importantly, the dynamics have been positive for many years. It seems to me that several factors contributed to it. Firstly, this is a constant high-level dialogue between leaders of our states, which sets the tone and outlines the framework for interaction. Secondly, these are regular contacts between key ministries and commissions and committees responsible for promoting cooperation between the two countries. This is an intergovernmental commission and a committee on cooperation in science and technology and many others,” Andrei Savinykh said. “Finally, these are business contacts. The bilateral trade is on the rise. The dynamics are very encouraging. I am convinced that Türkiye will remain our strategic partner,” the MP said.

The parliamentarian added that after the devastating earthquakes, Belarus provided Türkiye with the relief aid that it needed the most. “We sent an experienced disaster relief team and the necessary equipment. They worked day and night to rescue people from the rubble,” the MP emphasized.
