Moscow students to study history of partisan movement in Vitebsk oblast

VITEBSK, 30 March (BelTA) – On the eve of the Unity Day of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, Moscow gymnasium students will get familiar with the history of the partisan movement in the Vitebsk oblast, BelTA learnt from Zoya Krot, Chairman of the Vitebsk department of the Belarusian Peace Fund. Senior students of Moscow gymnasium No 1584 are set to visit Rossony first to see the comradeship-in-arms museum, a memorial room to Hero of the Soviet Union Piotr Masherov as well as places related to his military past. Gymnasium students are then set to take a glimpse of the Polotsk sights and go to Vitebsk. While in the oblast center the Moscow guests will meet with students of gymnasium No 5, members of the club of young pathfinders, who has been constantly enriching the gymnasium museum funds dedicated to the 39th Army that liberated Vitebsk. Moscow students will also pay a visit to the museum of Hero of the Soviet Union Minai Shmyrev. According to Zoya Krot, such an excursion will become a logic continuation of friendly relations between students who are interested in the history of the Great Patriotic War. The idea of an excursion has been initiated by one of the teachers of the Belarusian gymnasium. Russian gymnasium students will stay in Belarus from 1 to 3 April.
