Marc Chagall Museum hosts research conference for students

VITEBSK, 26 May (BelTA) – The Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk has organized a research conference for students. Participating in the conference were students, postgraduate students and professors of the Slavic Studies Institute of Regensburg University (Germany), BelTA learned from Ludmila Khmelnitskaya, the director of the museum. The program of the conference was developed taken into consideration Institute’s lectures on the Russian history (1918-1920) and the creative activity of the Jewish artists who worked in Vitebsk in that period. The German students got familiar with the expositions of the Marc Chagall Museum and the Marc Chagall Art-Center. They also attended several lectures on Marc Chagall’s activity as the director of the Vitebsk Art College and about the Vitebsk period of his creative activity. According to Ludmila Khmelnitskaya, in the future the professors of Regensburg University intend to organize research trips to Vitebsk and establish cooperation with one of the Vitebsk universities. Regensburg University is the research center which coordinates the research of Eastern Europe and the former USSR countries in Bavaria. The university coordinates academic relations and organizes academical exchange programs for students and scientists of those countries.
