Marc Chagall bust to be unveiled in Liozno
VITEBSK, 5 November (BelTA) – A bust of Marc Chagall will be unveiled at the Liozno Military and History Museum on 5 November, BelTA learnt from the Liozno District Executive Committee.
The idea of its creation belongs to sculptors Alexander Gvozdikov and Azat Torosyan.
Attending the unveiling ceremony will be local authorities, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Belarus Yosef Shagal, Liozno residents.
One of the most prominent representatives of the art avant-garde of the 20th century Marc Chagall (1887-1985) was born in Vitebsk. Liozno is the artist’s small motherland. His family’s house and numerous relatives were located in this town. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War Marc Chagall’s family were killed by the Nazis among other numerous Jewish residents.
