Magnificat 2014 to present 43 movies from 16 countries
MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) - The 10th edition of the international festival of Christian movies and TV programs Magnificat 2014 will take place in Minsk and Glubokoye on 24-28 August 2014. The festival will feature 43 movies from 16 countries, BelTA learnt from the Roman-Catholic Church of Belarus.
The biggest number of films, 12, will be displayed by Russia. Belarus will present 10 pictures, with Poland bringing in seven.
The forum will feature movies of Armenia, the UK, Georgia, Israel, Italy, Spain, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Serbia, the United States, Ukraine, France and Croatia.
The festival will kick off in Minsk on 24 August. Then the forum will move to Glubokoye where the majority of pictures will be presented.
The festival will traditionally hold a competition of animated movies.
According to the Roman-Catholic Church of Belarus, the anniversary of the cinema forum coincides with the 70th birthday of its creator, producer Yuri Gorulev.
The Magnificat festival is the review of the works of Belarusian and foreign cinema and TV masters aimed at the evangelization of the society, the support of universal human values of different Christian traditions. The forum was first held in 2005. The festival is held under the patronage of the Conference of Roman Catholic Bishops of Belarus. It was established by the Roman Catholic association Signis-Belarus, the Stop Kadr studio, the Vitebsk Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church and the Dialogue magazine.
