Insita 2012 arts exhibition starts in Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 3 April (BelTA) – The fourth national art exhibition Insita 2012 has given start to the celebrations dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Marc Chagall in Vitebsk on 3 April, BelTA has learnt. Taking part in Insita 2012 will be 79 painters from Belarus, Saint Petersburg and Lithuania. The exhibition will feature works from collections of the Naive Art Museum of Moscow and the Naive Art Museum of Latvia. The exhibition marking the 125th anniversary of Marc Chagall has opened simultaneously at three exhibition facilities of Vitebsk, including the Marc Chagall art center, the Vitebsk Regional Local Lore Museum and the Vitebsk Regional Crafts Methodological Center. The exhibition will stay open until 5 May. The 22nd Chagall Readings will be the highlight of the events dedicated to the famous resident of Vitebsk. The readings will be held on 9-10 June and will be dedicated to the history of the Vitebsk Art College in 1918-1923 that was opened due to the then plenipotentiary commissioner for art in Vitebsk Province Marc Chagall. Applications to participate in the readings have been received from fine art experts and Chagall experts from Belarus, Russia, Latvia, France and Germany.
