Funding for construction of new engineering infrastructure up threefold in Vitebsk Oblast in 2011
VITEBSK, 23 February (BelTA) - Budget assignments for the construction of new engineering and transport infrastructure in new districts of Vitebsk Oblast was increased threefold in 2011 as compared with 2010, BelTA learnt from Vladimir Belous, the chairman of the committee for architecture and construction of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee. Some Br380 billion was allocated from the budget on the construction of roads, communications, and transmission lines. These funds will be also used to finance the construction of engineering infrastructure in the districts of individual residential buildings. This year, Vitebsk Oblast is set to build 830 square meters of housing. A total of 4,700 plots of land were allotted in Vitebsk Oblast for individual housing construction, including 647 in the city of Vitebsk. 2,300 private houses are currently under construction in the oblast. According to Vladimir Belous, in 2010 out of 618,000 square meters of new housing 139,000 square meters were private houses (in 2009 this ratio was 589,000 square meters and 157,000 square meters). For more active involvement of people who are in need of better housing in private housing development, the Committee intends to work on increasing the awareness campaigns of the benefits of such development, terms of preferential lending and land allotment.БЕЛТА
