Belarus has an answer to the current challenges in global politics, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik said at the opening of Belarus’ Second National Forum on Sustainable Development in Minsk on 19 June, BelTA has learned.

The minister of foreign affairs emphasized: “Belarus has an answer to the current challenges in global politics. Conceptually, it is the initiative of the head of state on the need to launch a global dialogue on security in the spirit of San Francisco, which he put forward back in 2017. Specifically on this topic, the Belarusian president made a very clear statement at the climate summit last November in Dubai, calling on the Western countries to stop wars and conflicts and direct the freed up resources to peaceful creation.”

“Belarus, for its part, has made an important step in this direction, starting from the regional level,” Sergei Aleinik said.

In his words, Belarus hosted a high-level international conference “Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World” in October 2023.

“The conference demonstrated the interest in the development of dialogue on the unifying agenda, the search for new formats of interaction based on peaceful and harmonious coexistence,” the Belarusian minister of foreign afairs said. “It also confirmed the demand for a fair, secure and sustainable architecture of international relations, which should be based on the UN Charter with obligatory consideration of the principle of indivisibility of security.”
