FEZ Vitebsk to present three projects at Belarus Investment and Economic Forum
MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – The Vitebsk Free Economic Zone (FEZ Vitebsk) plans to present three projects worth over $72 million at the Belarus Investment and Economic Forum, BelTA learnt from head of the investment and foreign economic links department of the FEZ administration Oleg Kondratovich. All the investment proposals are associated with the use of new and advanced technologies. The FEZ administration expects to attract strategic investors to implement projects in the construction industry using the local raw material dolomite. Due to substantial dolomite reserves explored in the Vitebsk oblast investors can find this cooperation avenue very promising. One of the projects envisages the construction of a plant producing up to 13 millions of hyperpressed bricks from dolomite per year. This project is estimated at $5 million, the bulk of which will be spent on buying production machinery. The initiators of the project have already set up the Eurokirpich company which has been registered as the FEZ Vitebsk resident company. Apart from that, a 2.3 hectare land plot has been allocated to the plant six kilometers away from the dolomite deposit. The preparation for design and exploration work is underway. In line with the second project, plants to produce magnesite cement, lime and gypsum binders will be built in the oblast. These plants will use the local dolomite powder which reserves are estimated at 710 million tonnes. The amount of investment needed to implement this project comes to $30 million. The remaining investment project deals with the production of dry pectin using a new patented technology to get pectin from sugar-beet pulp. No strong mineral acids or alcohols will be used in the production. Pectin is used in making confectionary, bread and pharmaceuticals. The project is estimated at $37.4 million. The production capacity of the company will allow manufacturing 600 tonnes of dry pectin per year. The Belarus Investment and Economic Forum will be held in Minsk on 12-13 November.БЕЛТА
