Delegations of five countries partake in Vitebsk’s 1040th anniversary celebrations
VITEBSK, 30 June (BelTA) – Delegations of Armenia, Bulgaria, Israel, Latvia and Russia took part in the celebrations of the 1040th anniversary of Vitebsk on 28 June, BelTA has learned.
Representative of the Bulgarian delegation Ivan Ivanov told reporters that the delegation from Bulgaria’s Haskovo came to Vitebsk in order to congratulate its residents on the 70th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazis and the 1040th anniversary of Vitebsk. Ivan Ivanov stressed that the delegation from Haskovo is eager to discuss the participation of Vitebsk dance companies in the folklore festival in Haskovo with Vitebsk’s authorities.
The representative of the delegation from Armenia’s Vanadzor said that he had attended many events. “I think that we will hold bilateral meetings in the near future. There are a lot of interesting companies which could branch out into Armenia. We are currently discussing the possibility to open the Vitebsk store in Armenia,” he said. In his words, Vitebsk and Vanadzor can promote cooperation in the confectionery industry and the production of alcoholic beverages.
Representative of the delegation from Israels’ Rishon LeZion Galina Podolskaya said that Vitebsk has an important place in the global history and culture as it a birth place of Marc Chagall. The two sides have good prospects for developing cultural cooperation.
