CSTO officials praise Belarusian army training

VITEBSK DISTRICT, 29 July (BelTA) – Members of the Permanent Council under the Collective Security Treaty Organization, top executives of the Secretariat and the CSTO United Staff highly praised the combat training system and achievements of the servicemen of the 103rd guards mobile brigade of the Armed Forces of Belarus. Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordiuzha made the statement on 29 July, BelTA has learned. Nikolai Bordiuzha also praised the physical infrastructure of the Belarusian army unit. He said that despite the fact that the combat training used for Belarusian special ops forces is tuned to local conditions, some parts of it allow the servicemen to perform various missions. “I am glad that the 103rd brigade is part of the CSTO rapid response forces. It can accomplish the combat missions the Collective Security Council may assign to it,” the CSTO Secretary General is convinced. Members of the Permanent Council under the Collective Security Treaty Organization got familiar with the combat training of the mobile brigade and its equipment. The Belarusian servicemen demonstrated a free-drop insertion and a diving operation at a firing range in Vitebsk District on 29 July. The CSTO officials also watched a try-out for future holders of the Belarusian Defense Ministry’s badge “For Valor and Skill”. The visit was organized following the initiative of the Belarusian side as part of Belarus’ ongoing presidency in the CSTO. A similar visit to the 98th guards division of the Russian Air Force took place in April 2010. Nikolai Bordiuzha said that the servicemen of the two military units had demonstrated an equally high level of training.
